Self-Employment Benefit Program The Ontario Self-Employment Benefit (OSEB) Program was originally created by the Government of Canada to provide unemployed individuals who meet certain eligibility requirements with the funding and support to start their own businesses as an alternative to regular employment. The Program, now funded in part by the Government of Ontario, has designated delivery agents in specific territories. These delivery agents provide business support and guidance to approved applicants for the duration of their time on the Program. The Business Development Centre is the delivery agent for the areas of: Beamsville, Grimsby, Jordan, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines, Thorold and Vineland.
In Ontario the Self-Employment Benefit Program is funded through and overseen by Employment Ontario. If you qualify, this program gives you the opportunity to start your own business and receive income support as determined by the Employment and Training Division of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. You'll also receive the expert guidance and direction in your first year of business that plays a large role in your long-term business success.
